“Banco Central” intends to launch CBDC by 2023

The president of the “Banco Central do Brasil”, Roberto Campos Neto, announced that the institute intends to launch, by 2023, CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency), with the tests of the stablecoin scheduled to start later this month of September.

At the event “The future of crypto-active regulation in Brazil”, he highlighted the trend towards a more “tokenized” national economy, with a greater intersection of technologies and the traditional financial market and new markets, such as what has been consolidating in the metaverse.

In this way, the prediction is that cryptocurrencies linked to the Brazilian CBDC can be used in programmable money systems and smart contracts, with BC control forecast of legal security to prevent money laundering and other crimes against the economic order.
