Yesterday, October 18th, the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD – Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados) launched a Guidance Guide on Cookies and Data Protection.

Cookies are small files that are stored on the devices of the user of websites or applications and allow the collection of some information, including personal data, for different purposes, such as enabling the operation of websites, remembering user preferences, forming your behavioral profile and directing advertising campaigns.

In the Guide, the ANPD recommends some precautions for the use of cookies in accordance with the LGPD, mainly to ensure the transparency of data processing, the choice of the correct legal basis and the adequate implementation of mechanisms for the data subject to exercise rights guaranteed by the LGPD.

The material is available on the ANPD website and will be open to comments and continuous contributions from society.
