The creation of Corporate Venture Capital Funds (CVC) is gaining more and more space in companies looking for innovation. According to a survey by Bain & Company, the number of funds of this type reached 73 in 2021 in Brazilian companies, and tends to exceed 100 in 2022.
Among the main examples, Banco do Brasil announced at the beginning of the year two CVC funds of R$ 200 million for fintechs that increase banking and improve the user experience. In the education sector, Grupo + A Educação, in partnership with the accelerator Ventiur, forecast a budget of R$ 5 million for variable checks between edtechs in the initial and intermediate stages, and more recently, this Monday (30), the nima Educação announced the creation of a fund of 150 million reais for investments in startups, for a period of ten years. In addition to the contributions, nima’s fund will act as a venture builder, building new businesses from scratch.
The relevance of the CVC tends to grow more and more in the country, aiming to consolidate an innovation ecosystem for the most diverse sectors.
